Texas Bluebonnet Award Reading Program

The Kilpatrick Library is excited to invite all 3rd-5th graders to participate in the Texas Bluebonnet Award program!  Through this state-wide reading incentive program, students read from a list of 20 books nominated by teachers and librarians throughout Texas. The mission of the Texas Bluebonnet Award is to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore current books from a variety of genres, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books.

Students who read at least five of these books will be invited to vote for their favorite title.  These votes are tabulated from all over the state of Texas, and the winning author receives an award at the annual Texas Library Association meeting.  Participating students will also have their name posted on a special display outside of the library. Students who read at least eight of these books will be invited to our Bluebonnet Bash!
